ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team edged Texas-Dallas 4-3 on Monday afternoon at the UTD Tennis Complex in Richardson, Texas.
The Tritons (6-4) won all three doubles matches to take the first point of the contest.
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney beat Elsha Valluru and Jhastine Ballado 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Aleksandra Lopez and
Hannah Tse clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Elyssa Ducret and Megan Zeng in the second doubles contest.
Anna Domingo and
Maja Lietzau completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win over Rebecca Jackson and Saumya Vedula.
UMSL won three of the first four singles contest to clinch the match win. Lopez beat Zeng 6-4, 6-1 in straight sets at No. 4 singles. In the third singles contest it was Tse defeating Reika Nagai 6-3, 6-4. The Comets (3-4), ranked 38th in Division III, got on the board with a win at number two singes as Riya Matharoo beat Lietzau 6-4, 6-3.
The Tritons clinched the match as Domingo rallied for a three-set win over Jackson 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. UTD took the final two singles contests with Ducret rallying for a win over Favaron 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 and Valluru defeated Sweeney 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
UMSL continues its four-game Spring Break trip on Wednesday against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 12 p.m. in Durant, Okla.
