ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team concluded its four-match Spring Break trip with a 5-2 loss against Harding on Friday at the Elliott Tennis Complex in Searcy, Ark.
The Tritons (6-6) number two doubles team of
Aleksandra Lopez and
Hannah Tse defeated Georgia Plunkett and Reka Pecis 7-5 but the Lady Bisons (11-6) won the other two doubles contests as Karli Roux and Romane Britt beat
Maja Lietzau and
Anna Domingo 6-2 and Grace Dodd and Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz knocked off
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney 6-0.
In singles play, Domingo defeated Dodd 6-4, 6-4 at number one singles while Lopez rallied for a three-set win over Britt. Britt won the opening frame 6-4 but Lopez won set two 6-4 and took the third set 11-9 in a tiebreak. Lietzau lost to Roux in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, Tse fell to Alexia Zarate Valdez 6-3, 6-4, Sweeney was defeated by Madison Stafford 6-4, 6-2 and Favaron lost in three sets to Sarmiento Ruiz 6-2, 5-7, 5-10.
UMSL returns home next Saturday hosting Southwest Baptist at 1 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
