ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team defeated Quincy 5-0 on Friday afternoon at the Quincy Racquet Club in Quincy, Ill. The Tritons move to 7-7 while the Hawks drop to 5-8.
UMSL secured the doubles point by winning the first two doubles contests.
Hannah Tse and
Aleksandra Lopez defeated Katrin Ismailova and Anna Matino 6-1 at number two doubles and the number three doubles team of
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney beat Ana Alvarez and Steffi Lao by the score of 6-3.
In singles play, the Tritons won the first four contests to clinch the victory.
Maja Lietzau knocked off Lao 6-3, 6-2 in the number two singles match. At No. 3 singles it was Tse beating Ismailova in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 and Favaron handed Blanca Salas Cruz a 7-5, 6-4 defeat.
Anna Domingo won her match over Mahi Panchal 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 (10-8) in the first singles contest.
UMSL is back at home on Saturday hosting Maryville at 11 a.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
