ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis women's swimmer
Zara Konstapel was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America second team for women's swimming. She is the first Triton swimmer, male or female, to earn the distinction twice in a career and is the fourth UMSL student-athlete to earn multiple Academic All-America honors joining Bob Bone, Dave Rhoads and Charlotte Richards.
Konstapel earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 100 breast and as part of the 400-yard medley relay team at last month's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. It's the third straight year she's earned All-America accolades at the NCAA Championship meet.
Konstapel, a native of Doetinchem, Netherlands, is double majoring in English and French with a 3.94 grade point average.
To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must carry a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average and must be a sophomore or above.
