ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team cruised to a 5-0 win over Newman in its home opener on Thursday evening at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons improve to 3-0 and are off to their best start in nearly 30 years while the Jets drop to 0-2-1.
It would be a barrage of goals with five different players scoring for UMSL.
Jada Holloman got things started in the 13

That assist wouldn't be Maddox's only contribution as she tallied a goal in the 16

Jaycee Cotton's pass before sending a rocket into the top corner of the net from just outside the 18-yard box.
In the 30

Emily Bloomfield took the corner kick and found
Julie Steiger at the top of the 6-yard box. Steiger headed the ball home inside the back post for her second goal in as many games giving UMSL a 3-0 lead.
The first half ended with freshman
Gwen Maggard's first collegiate goal. In an All=Freshman affair,
Abrianna Garrett fired a cross from the right corner into the box.
Madi Riege redirected it off a defender and it fell to Maggard who knocked it home.
The Tritons final goal came halfway through the second half.
Julia Murdoch intercepted a pass and fired a shot from 25 yards out past Emma Lintecum for her first goal in a Tritons uniform in the 69
th minute.
UMSL outshot Newman 22-2 including 12-1 in shots on goal. The Tritons had nine corner kicks in the contest.
