SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team dropped its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at Drury 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Harrison Stadium at the Curry Sports Complex in Springfield, Mo. The Tritons fall to 2-2, 0-1 GLVC while the Panthers improve to 3-0-1, 1-0 GLVC.
Drury jumped in front in the 12th minute as Lucas Schofield scored from the center of the box off a pass from Joe Loughnane for his second goal of the season.
UMSL had two good chances late in the first half in the span of 0:11.
Gibson Hunt fired a shot that was saved by Camden Meyer and then
Michael Quinn had a chance moments later that was also turned away by Meyer.
The Panthers outshot the Tritons 6-3 in the first 45 minutes but each team had three shots on goal.
UMSL put four shots on goal in the second half but were once again unable to beat Meyer as he made all four saves.
Austin Reis gave the Tritons a chance making a pair of saves in the second 45 minutes.
Drury finished the contest outshooting UMSL 10-9 with each side putting six shots on goal and each team had seven corner kicks.
The Tritons continue their five-game road trip on Friday (Sept. 20) traveling to Bolivar, Mo., to take on Southwest Baptist at 1:30 p.m.
