BOLIVAR, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at Southwest Baptist on Friday afternoon in Bolivar, Mo. The Tritons are now 2-2-1, 0-1-1 GLVC while the Bearcats are 2-1-3, 1-0-1 GLVC.
UMSL dominated the stat sheet in the contest outshooting SBU 14-to-5 in the contest but only four of those chances landed on target. Three of the Tritons four shots on goal in the contest came in the first 45 minutes but they were unable to get anything past Bearcat keeper Marco Iniguez.
UMSL's best chance in the second half came in the 54th minute. After a free kick,
Jon Campbell tried to head a shot home from across the box but it hit the left post and stayed out. The Tritons had a couple of golden opportunities late in the contest as the Bearcats committed two fouls outside of the penalty area.
The first chance came in the 86th minute but Campbell missed his attempt high and then
Devin Livingstone had a chance in the 88th minute that was blocked by a defender and cleared out.
Campbell led UMSL with six shots in the contest while
Alex Hermann added three and Livingstone and
JT Goldstein had two apiece.
Austin Reis stopped the only two shots he faced to pick up his first clean sheet of the season.
The Tritons conclude their five-game road trip on Sunday taking on Rockhurst at Bourke Field in Kansas City, Mo., at 2:30 p.m.
