ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team got a goal in the final 10 minutes of the contest to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw with Lincoln on Friday evening at Creve Coeur Soccer Park. The Tritons are now 3-2-2, 1-1-2 GLVC while the Blue Tigers are 3-1-2, 2-1-1 GLVC.
Lincoln outshot UMSL 6-1 including 2-0 in shots on goal in the first 45 minutes but two saves by Triton keeper
Austin Reis kept the game scoreless.
The game remained scoreless until the 74th minute. After an UMSL foul, Jonas Mueller played a quick free kick ahead to Shandee Brooks. Brooks got in behind the Triton defense and beat Reis to the lower left corner for his fourth goal of the season.
UMSL responded in the 82nd minute.
Gibson Hunt fired a shot that hit the crossbar and the rebound came to
Roman Ryabchenko who buried it into an open goal for his first collegiate goal.
The Tritons had a chance to take the lead in the 1:09 later but Hunt's shot was saved by Vincent Osei. UMSL had one final chance in the final minute as
JT Goldstein tried to head home a corner kick but Osei was there to make the save to preserve the draw.
UMSL was outshot in the contest 9-7 but had a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
The Tritons continue their three-game homestand on Sunday hosting Missouri S&T at 2:30 p.m. at Creve Coeur Soccer Park. The Miners defeated Maryville 1-0 on Friday afternoon.
