ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team cruised to a 6-1 win over Lincoln at Creve Coeur Soccer Park on Friday evening. The Tritons snapped a three-game winless streak to improve to 4-2-1, 1-2-1 GLVC while the Blue Tigers drop to 5-3, 1-3 GLVC.
Junior
Julie Steiger tallied her third goal of the season five minutes into the first half.
Jacycee Cotton found
Jada Holloman who sent a through ball across the field to Steiger who buried to make it 1-0.
Lincoln managed to keep the game tight until the second half.
In the 61
st minute, the Blue Tigers committed a foul in the box, giving UMSL a penalty kick.
Kamryn Ealey stepped up to the spot to take it, burying the ball into the rightside netting, off the hands of Lincoln goalkeeper Kanon Dehema.
Sophomore
Josie Maddox scored her second goal of the season in the 68
th minute to make it 3-0 Tritons.
Aubree Wallace had the assist.
Two minutes later Sophomore
Taylor Martin netted her first of the season heading home a corner kick by
Emily Bloomfield. The set piece goal in the 70
th minute put UMSL up 4-0.
The barrage of goals ended with Sophomore
Natalie Scott scoring goals in the 77
th and 83
rd minute respectively. Sophomore
Julia Lammert had the assist on the first goal while Scott scored the second unassisted. The brace marks the first goals of Scott's career, as well as her first as a Triton.
Grace Larson scored Lincoln's only goal in the 88
th minute. The Tritons held Lincoln to only three shots on net on the night with only five shots total.
The Tritons six goals marks a season high.
The Tritons return to action on Sunday hosting Missouri S&T at noon at Creve Coeur Soccer Park.
