ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team fell to William Woods 7-0 on Sunday at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
The Owls won two of the three doubles matches to take the opening point of the contest. The Tritons got a win at number two doubles from
Tanin Ramnath and
Bauty Rooney as they defeated Duarte Melo and Robert Schorr 6-3.
William Woods won all six singles matches to clinch the dual. In the first singles match it was Zinovii Nahirniak beat
Percy Siercke in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 while Melo beat Ramnath 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 in the second singles match. Noah Burton knocked off
Joan Garros 6-2, 6-3 at number three singles, Aoi Ooka beat Rooney 6-3, 6-0, Jesper Seger defeated
AJ Burrows 6-2, 6-2 and Cole Horton swept
Jose Yañez 6-4, 6-4.
UMSL returns to the courts on Friday (Oct. 4) as it takes on Missouri Baptist at 9:30 a.m. at Christian Brothers College Cadet Park in St. Louis.
