NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jon Campbell's two first-half goals helped the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team to its first win of season with a 3-2 victory over Trevecca Nazarene on Sunday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn. The Tritons even their record at 1-1 while the Trojans drop to 0-1-1.
UMSL struck first in the fourth minute. A foul by Trevecca's Judah Jones gave the Tritons a free kick. Campbell scored off the free kick beating the keeper to the lower right corner for the first goal in his collegiate career.
Campbell's second goal came in the 27th minute after a foul in the penalty area. He stepped up to the spot and buried the penalty kick into the lower right corner.
The Tritons doubled up the Trojans in shots in the first 45 minutes 8-4 including 6-2 in shots on goal.
UMSL added an insurance goal early in the second half scoring off a corner kick.
Luca Saewe found the back of the net with an assist from
Colton Milosch. Saewe's goal proved to be the game-winner.
TNU got on the board in the 82nd minute as Luke Tedder beat
Austin Reis to the lower left corner for the goal with an assist from Sam Baarrionuevo.
The Trojans drew to within 3-2 on a goal from Chris Douglas with 0:24 remaining with an assist from Tom Hooper
Each team had 15 shots in the contest and seven shots on goal. Reis made five saves in goal for his first win of the season.
The Tritons wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday (Sept. 10) traveling to Jackson, Tenn., to take on Union at 5 p.m.
