ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams resumed their schedule on Friday winning 11 events in a dual against Washington University in St. Louis at Millstone Pool.
The women fell to the Bears 155-82 while the men lost 153-78.
For the women,
Justice Beard took the top spot in both the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle races. She set the Millstone Pool record with a time of 10:15 in the 1,000 and 5:02.46 in the 500.
Audrey Lantz was the winner in the 100 fly with a time of 58.23 seconds while
Macy Ganshert was second at 59.14 seconds.
Kate Nelson won the 100 free in a time of 54.53 seconds and
Ella Lantz was the winner in the 100 back at 58.77 seconds.
Bottorff came in second in the 50 free in a time of 25.21
UMSL's 200-yard free relay foursome of
Romina Itzkovich, Nelson, A. Lantz and
Madison Bottorff won with a time of 1:38.78. The Triton 200-yard medley squad of E. Lantz, Nelson, A. Lantz and Itzkovich was second at 1:50.05 and the quartet of
Isabella Gruidl,
Cheyanne Godleski,
Callie Clinton and Ganshert were third at 1:51.10.
On the men's side,
Hendrik Bechtel and
Conley Savage each won two events in the meet. Bechtel won the 1,000 free by more than a second in a time of 9:45.08 and the 500 free at 4:47.12. Savage claimed the top spot in the 200-individual medley with a time of 1:54.64 and the 100 fly at 51.11 seconds.
Ryan Conner was second in the 100 back at 52.89.
The Tritons claimed four of the top five spots in the 200 IM.
Mattia Nardi was the runner-up behind Savage in a time of 1:56.74,
Aaron Wicklund was fourth at 1:58.50 and
Harrison Miller finished fifth at 1:59.12.
UMSL's 200-yard free relay quartet of
David Reynolds, Metehan Saruhan,
Lathan Parks and
Joan Cortadellas Llubera won the relay with a time of 1:25.94.
The Tritons return to the pool next Friday (Jan. 24) hosting Saint Louis University in their final home dual of the season at 5 p.m. at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
