Men’s Soccer Draws With McKendree

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team earned a well-earned point with a scoreless draw against McKendree at Don Dallas Field on Friday evening. The Tritons are 2-3-5, 1-2-5 GLVC while the Bearcats are 4-3-4, 4-1-3 GLVC.

McKendree had the game's best scoring chance in the ninth minute as Fredrik Thulin sent a shot towards goal that was turned away by Jack Franklin. The Bearcats had another opportunity shortly before halftime but again it was Franklin coming up big stopping Dylan Gloviak's shot.

UMSL outshot McKendree 5-4 in the first 45 minutes but couldn't put anything on goal.

The Bearcats thought they scored off a corner kick in the 63rd minute but the goal was waved off because of a foul in the penalty box.

The Tritons best chance to score came in the 84th minute, Melo Mensah beat his defender on the left edge of the box and drove to the endline, brought it back and fired across the goal mouth looking for the far post but his shot sailed just wide resulting in a goal kick.

McKendree outshot UMSL 8-7 in the contest including 2-0 in shots on goal. The Tritons held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

UMSL is back at home on Sunday hosting Illinois Springfield at 2:30 p.m. at Don Dallas Field.
