INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team bounced back from its first conference loss of the season with a 3-0 win over UIndy on Friday evening at Key Stadium in Indianapolis. The Tritons improve to 7-3-2, 6-1-2 GLVC while the Greyhounds drop to 1-7-3, 1-6-3 GLVC.
Karley Kinzinger broke the deadlock in the 41
st minute. As the Greyhounds' defense collapsed on
Kennedi Hooks, who had the ball at the top of the 18-yard box. Hooks managed to send the ball across the face of the goal and Kinzinger, making the far post run, poked it home to put UMSL up 1-0.
The Tritons added a second goal in the 62
nd minute. The ball popped loose on a corner kick, recycled back to
Julie Stieger who found
Josie Maddox unmarked at the edge of the box. Maddox sent a high, arching shot into the top right to make it 2-0 UMSL.
Ella Anselm tallied the third Triton goal in the 72
nd minute, redirecting a header from
Taylor Martin on a corner kick from
Julia Lammert.
Maddox led the Tritons with five shots, two on target while Anselm and
Gwen Maggard both had three shots in the contest.
Rylee Griffith picked up her sixth shutout of the season, making three saves.
The Tritons wrap up their weekend road trip with a Sunday (Oct.19) matchup against Lewis at Lewis Stadium at 12 p.m.
