KIRKSVILLE -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team let one slip away with a 1-1 against Truman State on Friday afternoon at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Mo. With the draw, the Tritons are now 5-5-6, 4-4-5 GLVC and the Bulldogs stand at 3-9-3, 2-9-2 GLVC.
UMSL still picked up an important point with the tie and trail Quincy by two points for the final spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. nd minute. With the ball loose in the box off a shot rebound, Nodar was first to it, putting the ball past the outstretched arm of Truman's keeper.
Truman answered in the 89
th minute. Gregory Merritt found Henry Jenks on the outside of the box who sent a shot into the upper left netting to even the score.
Gibson Hunt earned a penalty kick with five seconds left, having dribbled through three Bulldog defenders and forcing a Truman defender into a handball. Hunt took the penalty, sending it lower right, but Owen Robben guessed correctly, saving it as time expired.
The Tritons outshot the Bulldogs in the contest 12-10 including 8-5 in shots on goal.
UMSL wraps up the regular season at William Jewell this Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the William Jewell Soccer/Lacrosse Field.
