ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team had two players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team on Tuesday (Nov. 25). Sophomores
Jack Franklin and
Mario Garcia received the honor.
To be eligible for nomination to the CSC Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, must have competed in 90 percent for the institution's games played OR must have started in at least 66 percent of the games throughout the season.
Franklin started 13 games this season, going 4-4-4 in goal, posted a goals against average of 1.07 in nearly 1100 minutes played, made 39 saves, had a save percentage of .750 and posted three shutouts. He is majoring in sport management with a cumulative GPA of 3.59.
Garcia started all 17 games for UMSL this season tallying two assists on the season and along with Franklin helped the team record three shutouts during the year. His major is engineering and he has a 3.511 cumulative grade point average.
The Tritons finished their season with a record of 5-6-6 including 4-5-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
