Martin Earns D2CCA First Team All-Region Honors

ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis junior defender Taylor Martin added another award to her resume as she was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region First Team which is nominated and voted on by the region's sports information directors.

She is the first Triton since Kayla Delgado in 2016 to earn First Team All-Region accolades and is now eligible for All-America honors from the D2CCA.

Martin, the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-GLVC pick, earns D2CCA All-Region honors for the first time in her career. This year, she has tallied a goal and four assists for a total of six points and has been part of a defensive backline that has posted 12 shutouts, held opponents to an average of 0.50 goals per game and an average of 8.0 shots per contest.

Martin has helped lead UMSL to a 14-4-2 record, the program's first ever regular season conference championship and the program's sixth bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 14 wins are tied for most in a single season in school history.

The Tritons return to the pitch this Sunday (Nov. 30) to take on crosstown rival Maryville in the Midwest Regional final at 1 p.m. at Lonnie Folks Field on the campus of Maryville University.
