ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team is ranked second in the second set of Midwest Regional rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament beginning on Nov. 21.
Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) postseason tournament winners with the five remaining spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The Tritons are 12-3-2 on the season and finished the conference portion of their schedule with a record of 11-1-2.
Grand Valley State sits atop the Midwest Regional Rankings at 14-2 overall. McKendree, Maryville, Ashland, Cedarville, Drury and Northwood are ranked third through eighth with Findlay and Quincy rounding out the top 10.
The NCAA II Tournament field of 56 teams (6-8 in each of eight regions) will be announced on Monday (Nov. 17) during the Selection Show on NCAA.com at 5:30 p.m. (CST).
UMSL, seeded first in the GLVC Tournament, is riding a six-game winning streak heading into its GLVC quarterfinal contest against eighth seeded Missouri S&T this Sunday at noon at Don Dallas Field
