ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the 2025 portion of their season with a triangular at the Missouri S&T Swimming Pool on Friday afternoon in Rolla, Mo.
The Triton women their dual with Southwest Baptist 162-39 while the men spilt defeating the Bearcats 161-37 but fell to the host Miners 141-63.
Justice Beard led the way for the UMSL women winning both the 200 individual medley and the 500 free and was also part of the 200 free relay winning quartet with
Audrey Lantz,
Madison Bottorff and
Romina Itzkovich. Beard won the 200 IM by nearly 13 seconds over SBU's Briley Larcom with a time of 2:10.79 and had a time of 5:09.13 in the 500 free. Lantz, Bottorff, Itzkovich and Beard turned in a time of 1:40.16 in the relay.
Also picking up wins for the women were
Libby Smith in the 1,000 free (10:56.95),
Kelsey Roth in the 200 free (2:00.90), Bottorff with a time of 25.18 seconds in the 50 free,
Callie Clinton was victorious in the 100 fly (59.99 seconds),
Ella Lantz took the top spot in the 100 free at 54.62 seconds, A. Lantz won the 100 back at 59.55 seconds and
Uxue Ortiz de Pinedo was the winner of the 100 breast (1:07.70)
. UMSL's 200 medley relay foursome of E. Lantz,
Stella Garrison, A. Lantz and Itzkovich won in a time of 1:50.57.
For the Triton men,
Mikael Larsson edged out Missouri S&T's Colin Shaffer for the win in the 1,000 free (10:03.39). Larsson held off a late charge from Shaffer swimming his final lap in a time of 26.79 seconds while Shaffer had a split of 28.04 in his final lap. Larsson also finished second in the 500 free at 4:48.25.
Donald Saunders took second in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.69,
Aaron Wicklund was the runner-up in the 200 IM at 1:56.82,
Kaleb Suitor was second in the 100 fly with a time a time of 51.11 seconds. UMSL's 200 medley relay quartet of
Maxwell Wetteland,
Landon Hanesworth, Suitor and
Lathan Parks came in second in a time of 1:36.04 and the 200 free relay squad of Parks,
Gabriel Wells, Suitor and Wetteland turned in a time of 1:26.08 in the 200 free relay.
UMSL returns to the pool on Friday (January 16) with a dual meet against Washington University in St. Louis at 5 p.m. at Millstone Pool on the campus of Wash U.
