ELKHART, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming diving teams posted five top eight finishes on the third day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the Elkhart Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ind.
The Triton women picked up 122 points on the day and moved past Lewis into fourth place in the team standings with 376 points. Drury continues to hold the overall lead through the halfway point with 939 and is 77 points ahead of Indianapolis for second.
Justice Beard had the top individual finish for UMSL finishing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.92 while
Ella Lantz won the 'C' Final at 1:54.27.
Audrey Lantz took seventh in the 100-yard fly (56.62) and
Callie Clinton finished sixth in the 'C' Final (58.14).
Isabella Gruidl came in seventh in the 'C' Final of the 400-yard individual medley (4:40.81).
The Triton 400-yard medley relay quartet of E. Lantz,
Kate Nelson, A. Lantz and
Romina Itzkovich took fourth overall in a time of 3:50.38 while the second squad of Gruidl,
Cheyanne Godleski, Clinton and
Madison Bottorff finished 14th at 3:57.79.
The Triton men scored 133 points in the evening session but remained in sixth place overall with 318 points and are 86 points behind Lewis for fifth overall. Drury holds the overall lead with 801 points but not far behind is McKendree in second with 786 points.
UMSL secured 63 of those 133 points with four finishers in the 400 IM.
Mattia Nardi came in eighth overall (3:57.64),
Aaron Wicklund won the 'B' Final at 3:55.32,
Conley Savage took fifth in the 'B' Final in a time of 4:00.37 while
Harrison Miller and
Mason Stimson finished fifth and sixth in the 'C' Final with times of 4:05.40 and 4:06.82 respectively.
The Tritons also scored 60 points in the 400-medley relay with their first team of
Ryan Conner,
Landon Hanesworth, Savage and
David Reynolds taking sixth overall (3:17.03) while UMSL's second squad of
Kaleb Suitor, Wicklund,
Ethan Boehle and
Lathan Parks came in 17th at 3:20.70.
The GLVC Swim and Dive Championships continue on Friday with morning prelims in the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast and 200 fly. The finals for those four events along with 200 free relay will be held during the evening session. The preliminary round starts at 9 a.m. (CST) with finals scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. (CST).
