KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team extended its winning streak to six with an 86-62 win over Truman State on Saturday afternoon at Pershing Arena. The Tritons improve to 16-10, 14-5 GLVC while the Bulldogs drop to 16-10, 10-8 GLVC.
UMSL started the game torching the nets making 10 of its first 13 shots but Truman matched them for a bit before going through a cold spell. The Tritons led by as many as 13 in the frame after a three-pointer from
Matt Enright with 3:33 left in the half.
The Bulldogs responded with seven straight points to cut the margin to six with 1:05 left in the half but a three-pointer from
Quenton Parker and a jumper by
Troy Glover II sent UMSL to the locker room with a 46-35 lead.
The Tritons shot 65 percent in the stanza making 15 of 23 shots including 8-of-12 from three and had six different players score led by Parker with nine while Enright and Glover added eight points apiece.
UMSL opened the second half on a 21-6 run as it held Truman scoreless for the first 5:30 and to just three field goals in the first 12 minutes. The Tritons led by as many as 27 after a three-pointer from Parker in the right corner.
The Bulldogs wouldn't get closer than 21 points the rest of the game as UMSL cruised to the victory.
The Tritons finished the game shooting 57 percent (30-for-53) from the field including 14-of-23 from three and shot 75 percent at the foul line. All eight players that played for UMSL scored in the contest led by Enright with 19 points while Glover finished with another double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Truman ended the game shooting 35 percent (19-for-54) from the floor was 6-of-26 from three and shot 95 percent at the foul line. Kobe Williams led the Bulldogs with 14 points.
The Tritons wrap up the regular season next Thursday (Feb. 27) hosting Drury at 7:30 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building.
