ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team won its second straight match defeating McPherson 5-0 on Saturday at the UMSL Tennis Courts. The Tritons improve to 5-1 while the Bulldogs drop to 6-3.
UMSL won all three doubles matches to take the opening point of the dual.
Hannah Tse and
Aleksandra Lopez defeated Alexa Garcia and Vanessa Hofer 6-2 in the first doubles match. The second doubles match went to
Anna Favaron and
Morgan Lint as they defeated Isabella Ellerbee and Pia Hinricher 6-1 and the final doubles contest was won by
Giuliana Cunza and
Lauren Sweeney 6-1 over Ava Bolin and Laureen Van Drunen.
In singles competition, Lopez swept Hofer 6-4, 6-1 at number two singles, Favaron handed Van Drunen a 6-3, 6-2 defeat, Lint swept Hinricher 6-1, 6-1 and Sweeney defeated Madison Dobson 6-1, 6-1. The final two singles matches were unfinished.
The Tritons return to the court on Friday (March 21) hosting Harding (Ark.) at 2 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
