ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team split their doubleheader against Maryville on Saturday afternoon at the Maryville Athletic Complex. The Tritons lost the first game 4-0 before winning the second game 3-1. The Tritons are now 11-12, 4-6 GLVC while the Saints are 12-21, 4-6 GLVC.

Game 1 – Maryville 4 UMSL 0
Maryville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Addison Koth homered to right center, driving in Emily Corona for the first two runs of the contest.

The Saints scored their final two runs in the third inning to make it 4-0. Jenna Kosnoff tripled and Isabella Garcia was hit by a pitch. Garcia advanced to second base and Kosnoff scored on a wild pitch and Garcia came into score on a throwing error by
Rylie Buchanan.

UMSL had four hits in the game with
Jamie Widule recording two of those.
Ashley Borowitz pitched six innings giving up four runs, three earned on three hits. She struck out eight in the contest but fell to 6-5 on the year.

Game 2 UMSL 3 Maryville 1
The Tritons jumped out to an early lead in the backend of the doubleheader in its first at-bat. Buchanan drove in Widule with a ground out to second.

Maryville tied the game in the home half of the first as Koth brought home Emily Corona with a sacrifice fly to left.

UMSL retook the lead in the second as Widule singled to center scoring
Hannah Tomlianovich who led off the inning with a walk. The Tritons final run came in the third.
Gwyn Miller led off the inning with a double to left center and scored on Buchanan's RBI single to center.

That was all the run support that
Ashley Ware needed as she held the Saints without a hit until one out in the sixth. Kosnoff broke up the no-hit bid with a single to left. Ware got out of a bases loaded jam getting Koth to strikeout and Miranda Boundurant grounded out to third to end the inning.

UMSL finished with 10 hits in the nightcap and were led by Miller with three while
May Pasqualini and
Kaytie Kossina had two hits each. Ware picked up the complete game victory allowing one run on one hit with five strikeouts against four walks to improve to 3-5.

The Tritons conclude their eight-game road trip on Tuesday (March 25) as they travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to take on Central Missouri in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
