KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team fell to No. 42 Rockhurst 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City. The Tritons drop to 5-5 while the Hawks move to 6-4.
Rockhurst won the first doubles match as its number two team of Semyon Tsyrenov and Creed Skinner beat
Percy Siercke and
Henry Roberts 6-1. UMSL tied the doubles portion as its number three team of
Alejandro Ley and
Joan Garros beat Josef Truhlar and Arnav Gannavaram 6-2. The Hawks clinched the doubles point as its top doubles team of Alex Tikhonov and Louis Keiner defeated
Daniel Berdecio and
Tanin Ramnath 6-3.
Rockhurst won all six singles matches to clinch the victory. Skinner beat Siercke 6-4, 6-1 at number three singles, in the number six singles match it was Iago Alcover defeating Garros 6-4, 6-4 and No. 57 Keiner beat Ramnath 6-4, 6-3. No. 14 Tsyrenov defeated Ley 7-5, 6-2 in the first singles contest. Roberts lost to Dylan Rainwater 6-4, 6-3 at number five singles and Berdecio fell to Tikhonov in three sets 7-5, 4-6, 0-1 (2-10) in the fourth singles match.
The Tritons return to the courts hosting Quincy on Saturday (March 29) at 12 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
