ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team split Friday's doubleheader with Drury dropping the opener 7-1 but won the nightcap 4-0 at the UMSL Softball Field. The Tritons improve to 17-22 including 10-14 in the GLVC while the Panthers are 29-19 and 20-6 in league play.

Game 1: Drury 7 UMSL 1
UMSL struggled on offense in game one, managing just one run on seven hits while leaving 10 on base.

Drury got on the board in the third inning when Taylor Hartsell doubled to left field, scoring Sophia Luetticke from third base. Then Kaley Adzick singled to left field, scoring Hartsell.

The Panthers added three in the fourth inning. Luetticke singled to the shortstop to score a run before Landry Cochran hit a triple to the right of center, brining Luetticke home. Hartsell scored the final run of the fourth with a sacrifice fly to right field.

The Tritons got a run back in the fourth when
Megan Russell singled down the left field line to bring
Gwyn Miller home from third base.

Victoria Garland hit a two-run homerun to left center to make the score 7-1 Panthers in the top of the seventh.

Lexi Sherrick pitched 2.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out two to bring her record to 3-4.
Phoebe Miller led UMSL with two hits.

Game 2 – UMSL 4 Drury 0
Ashley Borowitz and the Tritons held Drury scoreless in the second game of the doubleheader to split the series.

Simia Spahiev got UMSL going early with a double to right center, scoring
Hannah Tomlianovich, who had reached second base on a throwing error by the Panthers.

The Tritons added two more runs in the third inning.
Jamie Widule grounded out to shortstop, allowing
May Pasqualini to score from third base. Then G. Miller doubled to center field, scoring Spahiev.

Tomlianovich was responsible for the Tritons final run, putting the ball in play to allow
Julia Sandles to score from third base.

Borowitz pitched seven innings, giving up one hit and striking out four to improve to 10-8 on the season. Spahiev, G. Miller and Sandles had a hit apiece in the win.

The Tritons wrap up the home portion of their 2025 schedule on Tuesday (April 22) hosting Missouri Western in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at the UMSL Softball Field.
