INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis fell to Uindy 4-1 at the UIndy Tennis Center on Friday afternoon in Indianapolis. The Tritons drop to 9-5, 2-1 GLVC while the Greyhounds improve to 8-5, 2-0 GLVC.
UIndy won two of the three doubles contests to take the opening point of the match. It's number one doubles team of Sofia Cardenas and Tyffaine Pais defeated
Hannah Tse and
Aleksandra Lopez 6-0 while its number three doubles squad of Suryanshi and Linya Chen beat
Giuliana Cunza and
Lauren Sweeney 6-0.
On the singles side, Tse, ranked No. 41, fell to Pais in three sets 0-6, 6-4, 6-3,
Anna Favaron lost to Suryanshi 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Lopez got UMSL on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Chen in the number three singles match but Sweeney fell to Silvia Zappoli 6-2, 6-1 at number five singles to clinch the match for the Hounds.
The Tritons return to the courts on Saturday (April 19) taking on McKendree at 12:30 p.m. at the St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Ill.
