ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team had its two-match winning streak snapped with a 4-0 loss against No. 31 Drury on Saturday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo. The Tritons drop to 7-6 while the Panthers improve to 10-2.
Drury won all three doubles contests to win the opening point of the match. It's number one doubles team of Lukas Rieber and Yaroslav Sharyy, ranked No. 17 in Division II, defeated UMSL's number one doubles team of
Tanin Ramnath and
Daniel Berdecio 6-0. At number three doubles it was Mark Drozdetskill and Chuy Conzalez winning 6-2 over
Bautista Rooney and
Joan Garros. The final doubles contest was won by Oscar Reis and Alejandro Esquivel 7-5 over
Alejandro Ley and
Percy Siercke.
In singles play, Ley lost to No. 17 Sharyy 6-2, 6-2 in the first singles contest, Ramnath was beaten by Gonzalez 6-0, 6-1 and Siercke lost to Matthieu Gachon 6-1, 6-1. The final three singles matches weren't started.
The Tritons return to the courts on Friday (April 11) hosting Illinois Springfield at 2 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
