ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team picked up its first GLVC win on Friday night with a 1-0 win over Rockhurst at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons improve to 2-2-1, 1-0-1 GLVC while the Hawks drop to 1-2-2, 0-1-1 GLVC.
It took until the 79
th minute for the Tritons to find the back of the net, despite having the bulk of the chances.
Maddie Clark started the play with a shot on goal, right at the Rockhurst keeper.
Lexi Whalen ran onto the rebound, knocking the ball home to score her first collegiate goal and give UMSL the 1-0 lead.
The Tritons outshot the Hawks 17-5 in the game, including 11 shots on target to Rockhurst's two.
Julia Lammert nearly scored in the 20
th minute, sending her shot off the crossbar after a rebound.
Ella Anselm led UMSL with four shots, two on net.
Rachel Skyberg and
Natalie Heib each had two shots on net in the contest as well.
Rylee Griffith made two saves in the game, picking up her second clean sheet of the season and third of her career.
The Tritons conclude their six-game homestand hosting Southwest Baptist on Sunday at noon at Don Dallas Field.
