Tritons Explode For Four Second Half Goals Against SBU

ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team closed out their home stand with a 4-0 win over Southwest Baptist Sunday afternoon at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons improve to 3-2-1, 2-0-1 GLVC while the Bearcats drop to 2-4-1, 0-2-1 GLVC.

Four different UMSL players scored in the contest. The four goals are a season-high.

Josie Maddox got things rolling for the Tritons in the 50th minute, running onto a ball by Aubree Wallace and finishing by slotting the ball off the far post and into the net. The goal put the Tritons up 1-0 and is the first of the season for Maddox.

In the 63rd minute Kennedi Hooks netted her second goal of the season, cutting the ball back at the top of the box and then arcing a shot into the far side netting to make it 2-0.

Just two minutes later, Rachel Skyberg scored her first of the season from 25-yards out, sending the ball high and into the top left side for her first goal of the season.

Natalie Heib scored the Tritons fourth goal in the 75th minute. She took the ball across the top off the box before blasting the ball off the crossbar and down into the goal for her first collegiate goal.

UMSL outshot SBU 33 to 1 with 15 of those shots being on target. Skyberg led the Tritons with five shots while Hooks had three shots, all on goal.

Rylee Griffith did not have to make a save in her third shutout of the year.

UMSL returns to action on Friday (Sept. 26) traveling to Rolla, Mo., to take on Missouri S&T at 5 p.m. at the S&T Soccer Field.
