ROLLA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team got a goal from
Ella Anselm in the 84th minute lifting it past Missouri S&T 1-0 for its third straight win on Friday evening at Allgood-Bailey Stadium in Rolla, Mo. The Tritons improve to 4-2-1, 3-0-1 GLVC while the Miners drop to 3-3, 1-2 GLVC.
The win snapped a six-game winless streak in the series for UMSL and was their first over S&T since a 3-0 win in Rolla on Oct. 5, 2018.
The contest was scoreless until the 84
th minute.
Taylor Martin headed the ball ahead to
Aubree Wallace who turned and found Anselm up top. Anselm took the ball wide and rifled a shot across the goal, sending it off the left post and in for her first collegiate goal.
The Tritons had two chances early with
Maddie Clark having her sixth minute shot saved by Miners goalkeeper Anastasia Barcom.
Natalie Scott followed that up with her own chance in the 12
th minute, escaping her defender but pulling her shot just wide to the left.
S&T outshot UMSL 18- 13 but the Tritons had a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Rachel Skyberg led UMSL with two shots both on net.
Julia Lammert and Anselm also had two shots in the match.
Rylee Griffith made three saves in the contest on her way to her third consecutive third shutout. It's also her fourth shutout of the season.
THe Tritons return to action on Sunday as it travels to Jefferson City to take on Lincoln at 12 p.m. at the Jefferson City High School Soccer Field.
