ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2025 season at the University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Star Invitational on Friday evening at the UIS Cross Country Course in Springfield, Ill.
The Triton men finished fifth out of 11 teams with a score of 139 points while the women were seventh out of 10 teams with a team score of 187 points.
UMSL's men had two runners place in the top 20 of the event with senior
Will Kaempfe winning the 7K race in a time of 21:45.38. He finished seven seconds ahead of the runner-up. Sophomore
Luke Stevenson was 19th at 23:01.74.
Senior
Devon Fanning touched the line at 23:38.49, senior
Aaron Guss had a time of 25:33.05 and sophomore
Armando Montoya finished at 25:53.67.
For the UMSL women, junior
Bella Massaro was the team's top finisher in the 5K race with a time of 21:06.05. She was followed by freshman
Hannah Richardson at 22:02.81, sophomore
Bridget Ragan touched the line at 22:30.86, junior
Ansley Casey came in at 22:41.35, freshman
Dylan Jinks had a time of 24:31.93 and junior
Zoey Losch finished with a time of 27:27.72.
The Tritons return to the course next Friday (Sept. 12) competing in the Larry Young Invitational at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. The women's race begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's race at 6:15 p.m.
