ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team dropped its Spring opener against Southeast Missouri State 7-0 at the Mizzou Tennis Facility in Columbia, Mo., on Sunday afternoon. The Tritons are 2-1 while the Redhawks move to 3-4.
SEMO won all three doubles contests to win the opening point of the match. Mia Mayerova and Maja Bajorek defeated
Hannah Tse and
Morgan Lint in the number one doubles match 6-4. In the second doubles match it was Juliette Demunck and Kristina Kozakova beating
Aleksandra Lopez and
Millie Wileman 6-1 and in the final doubles match Yontha Tadoum and Sofia Zemtsova defeated
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney 6-1.
In the singles portion, Lint won the opening set of her match at No. 4 singles against Tadoum 6-3 but Tadoum rallied to win the final two sets 6-4, 7-5. Willeman lost the first set in the third singles contest to Zemtsova 6-1, won the middle frame 6-4 but lost in set three 6-3. Tse lost to Bajorek at No. 1 singles 1-6, 6-7 (3-7), Lopez fell to Demunck in straight sets 0-6, 1-6.
In the final two singles matches it was Kozakova handing Favaron a 0-6, 6-7 (4-&) defeat and
Giuliana Cunza lost to Mayerova 4-6, 2-6.
UMSL returns to the courts on Friday (February 13) to take on the Quincy Hawks in Quincy, Ill., at 2 p.m.
