QUINCY, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team swept Quincy, 4-0 at the Quincy Racquet Club on Friday afternoon in Quincy, Ill. The Tritons improve to 3-1 while the Hawks drop to 4-2.
UMSL won all three doubles matches to win the opening point of the contest. It's number one doubles team of
Hannah Tse and
Morgan Lint defeated Mahi Panchal and Nadia Heredia 6-3. The tandem of
Millie Wileman and
Aleksandra Lopez handed Anna Matino and Maria Barrera a 7-5 defeat and the duo of
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney won over Heide Navas and Sofia Tesic 6-3.
In the singles portion of the dual, Tse rallied for a three-set win over Panchal. She dropped the opening set 3-6 but won the next two sets by scores of 6-1 and 12-10 in a third set tiebreaker. Wileman knocked off Barrera 6-2, 6-3 and Lopez beat Matino 6-2, 6-2. The Tritons were leading in the No. 4 and No. 6 singles matches when the match was clinched for UMSL.
The Tritons are back in action on Saturday (February 28) hosting Southern Indiana at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
