ST. LOUIS – The No. 24 University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team defeated Truman State 64-47 to extend its winning streak to five on Thursday evening at the Mark Twain Building. The Tritons improve to 21-3, 17-1 GLVC while the Bulldogs drop to 15-10, 12-5 GLVC.

The game was a see-saw affair at the start with seven lead changes in the first seven and a half minutes of the game. Katelyn Odom give Truman the lead with a three-pointer but Morgan Ramthun and Mara Rieder hit back-to-back shots to give UMSL a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

The Tritons and Bulldogs traded baskets in the final minute of the quarter as UMSL took a 16-15 lead into the second quarter.

UMSL started to pull away thanks to an 11-2 run over the final five minutes of the quarter to take a 31-21 lead into the locker room at the half. Aliya Tripp hit a big three in the run to make it an eight-point game. Five different Tritons scored during that run.

UMSL scored five of the first seven points to start the third quarter to extend its lead to 13 points on a layup from Rieder. The Bulldogs cut the deficit to 10 points a couple of times but could never get the margin to single digits.

The Tritons used an 8-2 run to extend its lead to 16 on Tripp's second three of the contest. UMSL took a 13-point lead into the final quarter.

The Tritons opened the final frame on a 12-4 run to take its largest lead of the contest at 62-41 on a layup from Rieder with 4:06 remaining. Truman scored seven of the final nine points of the contest for the final margin.

UMSL shot 39 percent (27-for-70) from the field including 5-of-17 from three and 71 percent at the foul line. The Tritons dominated on the glass outrebounding the Bulldogs 50-to-29.

Rieder finished with a game-high 20 points while Ramthun added 18 points. Jayden Kuper pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds while Rieder added 15 more for her 13th double-double of the season.

Truman finished the game shooting 36 percent (19-for-53) from the field but was 3-of-17 from three and shot 55 percent at the foul line. Emajin McCallop was the lone Bulldog to reach double figures with 16 points.

UMSL hosts William Jewell in its final home contest of the regular season on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.  The Tritons will honor their three seniors prior to the start of the contest.
