EDMOND, Okla. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team dropped its season opener against Pittsburg State 25-1 on Thursday morning at the Edmond First Pitch Classic at Wendell Simmons Field on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma.
The Gorillas (4-0) took the early lead with two runs in the first but the Tritons got a run back in the second on an RBI double from
Ethan Landis that scored
Garrett Strenger.
PSU scored six runs in its half of the second and then broke it open with 14 runs in the bottom of the third.
UMSL finished the game with eight hits in the contest and was led by
Justin Terhaar and
Owen Faith with two each.
Bryce Nicolay took the loss in the contest.
The Tritons return to the diamond on Friday afternoon taking on Emporia State at 4 p.m. on day two of the Edmond First Pitch Classic at Wendell Simmons Field in Edmond, Okla.
