ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team won eight of its nine matches to defeat McPherson 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. The Tritons improve to 5-1 while the Bulldogs drop to 3-4.
UMSL swept the doubles portion of the match as
Hannah Tse and
Morgan Lint defeated Taimi Nashiku and Bella Ellerbee 6-1 at No. 1 doubles,
Aleksandra Lopez and
Millie Wileman blanked Vanessa Hofer and Laureen Van Drunen 6-0 and
Anna Favaron and
Giuliana Cunza knocked off Eva Lesteluhu and Maria Luisa de Lama 7-5.
The two teams swapped the first two singles contests as Tse beat Hofer 6-3, 6-0 while Nashiku defeated Wilieman 6-2, 6-4. The Tritons won the final four singles contests to complete the victory. Lopez won in straight sets over Ellerbee 6-1, 6-2, Lint swept Van Drunen 6-1, 6-2, Favaron handed de Lama a 6-3, 6-1 defeat and Cunza blanked Lesteluhu 6-0, 6-0.
UMSL returns to the courts next Saturday hosting No. 39 Northwest Missouri State at 11 a.m. at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
