ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team had its two-match streak snapped with a 5-2 loss to Rockhurst on Sunday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. The Tritons are 3-6 on the season while the Hawks improve to 3-3.
UMSL won two of the three doubles matches to win the opening point of the dual.
Daniel Berdecio and
Andrea Ricart got the Tritons on the board with a 6-3 win over Alex Tikhonov and Creed Skinner at number three doubles. Rockhurst tied it as its number one doubles team of Ollia Dickason and Alexi Khamrotau beat
Tommy Griese and
Percy Siercke 6-4. UMSL won the final doubles contest as its number two squad of
Henry Roberts and
Joan Garros rallied to defeat Arnav Gannavaram and Josef Truhlar 7-6 (7-4).
The Hawks rallied in the singles portion of the contest winning the first two singles contest to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Tritons tied it as Roberts rallied to defeat Dickason 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) at number three singles to square the match 2-2 but Rockhurst won the final three matches to secure the win.
UMSL heads to southern California this week for three matches beginning on Tuesday against Point Loma in San Diego at 3 p.m. (CDT).
