AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team lost its match to No. 36 Azusa Pacific 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Munson and Bavougian Tennis Complex in Azusa, Calif. The Tritons are 6-4 while the Cougars move to 15-2.
UMSL won the opening point of the match by taking two of the three doubles contests. It's number one team of
Hannah Tse and
Morgan Lint defeated Vini Bautisita and Stina Larsson 6-2. APU evened the doubles portion as its No. 3 team of Mariana Arreola and Kimberly Tran beat
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney 6-1. The Tritons clinched the doubles victory as
Millie Wileman and
Aleksandra Lopez knocked off Karola Suviste and Shannele Lopez 6-3.
UMSL's win in singles play came from Lopez as she rallied to defeat Bautista 3-6, 7-6 (7-0), 6-2.
The Tritons conclude their Spring Break trip on Friday taking on Westmont at 2 p.m. (CDT) at the Abbott Tennis Courts in Santa Barbara, Calif.
