SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team concluded its spring break trip with a 7-0 win against Westmont at the Abbott Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Tritons improve to 7-4 while the Warriors drop to 7-10.
UMSL won all three doubles contests to win the opening point of the match. It's number one team of
Hannah Tse and
Morgan Lint beat Sabina Salva and Lauren Gee 6-3.
Millie Wileman and
Aleksandra Lopez knocked off Liska Knight and Ellie Triplett by the score of 6-2 and its number three team of
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney defeated Emma Rashid and Justie Spitzer 6-4.
The Tritons got wins from all their singles players.
Giuliana Cunza started it off with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Avala Elwood. Lint gave UMSL a 3-0 lead as she beat Triplett by a score of 6-4, 6-2. Favaron won the clinching match rallying for a three-set win. She dropped the opening set to Rashid 0-6 but won the final two 6-1, 6-3.
Wilemann beat Salva in three sets 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, Tse rallied for a three-set win over Spitzer 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 and Lopez won in three sets against Gee 6-7 (6-8), 7-5, 6-2.
The Tritons are back in action next Friday (April 3) traveling to Fulton, Mo., to take on William Woods at 10 a.m., at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.
