ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 6-1 win over McKendree on Friday morning at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. The Tritons improve to 10-4, 1-0 GLVC while the Bearcats drop to 8-11, 0-1 GLVC.
UMSL won the first two doubles matches and were leading in the third when the doubles point was clinched for the Tritons.
Hannah Tse and
Morgan Lint picked up a 6-1 win over Lena Greefs and Keira Greefs while
Aleksandra Lopez and
Millie Wileman defeated Kristina Bogomazova and Alessia Baiardi 6-1.
UMSL got singles from
Giuliana Cunza at No. 6 singles as she beat Diana Calzada in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Lopez followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bogomazova in the second singles contest and Wileman clinched the victory with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Ivana Milova at number three singles.
Tse fell to L. Greefs in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 0-1 (8-10) in the first singles contest, Lint rallied for a three-set win over K. Greefs 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) and
Anna Favaron knocked off Emmy Zsigmond 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-2) at number five singles.
The Tritons are back in action on Saturday (April 11) hosting UIndy at 11 a.m. at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.
