ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team dropped two games to fourth ranked UIndy 5-1 and 10-5 on Saturday afternoon at the UMSL Softball Field. The Tritons are now 19-19, 12-6 GLVC while the Greyhounds improve to 44-3, 19-1 GLVC.
Game 1: UIndy 5 UMSL 1
UIndy opened the scoring early, tallying two runs in the first inning. With Cara Cooper on base, Cheyenne Eads hit a home run to right field to score both runners, giving the Hounds a 2-0 lead.
UIndy added three more in the third. After the first three batters loaded the bases, Josie Jager hit a double to left center to score the runners on third and second. Two batters later, Paige Vickery hit a sacrifice fly to right center to score the third run and put the Greyhounds up 5-0.
UMSL got on the board in the sixth inning.

Phoebe Miller singled to right center to bring VanEycke home for the only Triton run of the game.
Ashley Borowitz picked up the loss, pitching three innings, giving up five runs on five hits and striking out one to fall to 6-6 on the season.
Game 2: UINdy 10 UMSL 5
A solo home run to right center by Shelby Cook put the Greyhounds up one in the second inning to start the scoring for UIndy.
The Greyhounds scored seven runs in the third inning to break the game open. With runners at the corners, Jager singled up the middle to score the runner at third. The next batter hit a single up the middle to score Cook from third. Maya Rodriguez hit the third single up the middle in a row to load the bases before a walk brought the fourth UIndy run home.
With the bases still loaded, Sydney Oliver singled through the left side, scoring the runner on third. Brooklyn Willis doubled to left center to clear the bases and bring three runs home, making it 8-0 in favor of the Hounds.
UMSL got two runs of its own in the third. Back to back singles got the first two runners on base before a ground out by
May Pasqualini advanced the runners. Kossina singled through the left side, scoring a run and a fielding error in left allowed
Gracie Philpot to score as well.
A Cook single to right center in the top of the fifth scored the final two Greyhounds runs, making it 10-2 UIndy.
A
Kenzie Stoltz single to right field doubled the Tritons score, bringing home Philpot from third and
Jamie Widule from second, both of whom had reached on fielder's choices.
Widule scored UMSL's final run in the bottom of the seventh, singling through the right side to bring home Pasqualini from second.
Sasha Buckberger pitched 2.2 innings in the loss, giving up seven runs on six hits and striking out one to fall to 4-4 on the season.
The Tritons continue their six-game home stand on Sunday hosting Lewis in a doubleheader starting at noon at the UMSL Softball Field.
