Mara Rieder were recognized as Great Lakes Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective sports for the Winter/Spring semester announced on Friday by the conference office.
The trio join volleyball junior
Skylar Weaver, who was the GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for volleyball back in the Fall, to earn the distinction for the 2025-26 academic year. The four Scholar-Athlete of the Year winners are the most for a single year in school history.
Bonczkowski helped lead the Tritons to a record of 34-22 including 24-8 in the GLVC, its first GLVC championship since 2003, its first win NCAA appearance since 2003 and its first NCAA Tournament win since 1996.
He led the league in batting average (.438) hits (92), home runs (23) and slugging percentage (.852). Bonczkowski also ranked second in total bases (179) third in runs batted in (75) and ninth in on-base percentage (.504).
He was a First Team All-GLVC selection and was a First Team All-America selection by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and was a Second Team All-America selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D2Baseball.com.
Bonczkowski, graduated with his degree in educational studies in May, achieved a 3.700 GPA in the spring semester and had a cumulative GPA of 3.923. He appeared on the Dean's List and was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team earlier this week.
Mayo helped lead the Tritons to their fourth GLVC title and the program's best finish in the NCAA Championships as UMSL advanced to the semifinal round of the medal/match play final in May. He finished in a tie for fourth in the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championships with a 54-hole total score of 206 (67-72-67).
Mayo finished the season with a scoring average of 72.62 which was second lowest on the team, shot par or better in nearly half of his rounds played, had five top five and seven top 10 finishes. He was twice named the GLVC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week last Fall. He was a First Team All-GLVC and All-Region selection and was named to the Ping Golf All-America honorable mention team.
Mayo, a finance major, had a 3.925 GPA for the spring semester and finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.695. He was named to the Academic All-GLVC team and is in consideration for Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators.
Rieder helped lead the Tritons to their best season in school history with a school record 25 wins, a GLVC regular season title and the program's first ever NCAA Tournament win defeating Ferris State in the first round of the Midwest Regional.
Rieder, the GLVC Player of the Year and First Team All-GLVC selection, put together one of the greatest single seasons in program history in 2025-26. She scored 585 points, grabbed 302 rebounds and blocked 68 shots. Her rebounds and blocked shot totals are both second best while her point total is third best in a single season in school history. Rieder recorded 17 double-doubles this past season which ranked second in the GLVC and 13th in Division II.
She was a First Team All-Region selection by the D2CCA and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and was named to the D2CCA All-America Second Team and was a honorable mention selection on the WBCA All-America team.
Rieder, a physical education major, posted a 3.944 GPA for the spring semester and finished the year with a 3.788 cumulative GPA and was named to the Dean's List both semesters. She was named to the CSC Academic All-America Second Team back in March.
