UMSL Records Highest Finish in Learfield Cup Standings, Placing 37th

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis Department of Athletics secured its highest finish in the annual Learfield Directors' Cup Standings, coming in at 37th.

UMSL's previous highest finish was 50th in 2022-23.

The Tritons totaled 440.5 points this season with nine teams competing in the NCAA Tournament. UMSL collected 218.5 points came this spring with men's golf finishing third at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships for a total of 82.5 points, women's golf finished in a tie for fifth at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships garnering 73 points, baseball picked up 38 points and women's tennis got 25 points.

The Tritons picked up another 124 after the women's championships with the men's and women's swimming teams combining for 74 points. The women finished 15th at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships earning 60 points while the men finished 30th which garnered 14 points. Women's basketball added another 50 points with its first round win over Ferris State at the Midwest Regional.

The remaining 98 points in the fall were courtesy of women's soccer deep run in the NCAA Tournament that concluded with an appearance in the national quarterfinals.

UMSL finished fifth among the 15 GLVC schools behind Indianapolis (third), McKendree (27th), Maryville (28th) and Lewis (30th).

Every year since 1995, except 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19, the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup has been awarded to the year's best athletic institution with points based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Division II consists of more than 300 colleges and universities.

Grand Valley State won the 2025-26 Learfield Cup crown, accumulating 1089.75 points to win the title for the 18th time.
