Brittany Harbaugh scored the game-winner as the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season, a 3-2 overtime victory, at Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Harbaugh found the back of the net six minutes and 19 seconds into the extra frame off a pass from freshman
Kali Thomas. UMSL improves to 1-3-1 overall with the victory, including 1-2 in the GLVC, while Kentucky Wesleyan falls to 0-5 and 0-4 in the league.
The Tritons amassed 26 shots in the game, landing 14 on goal, while the Panthers finished with 17 shots, including nine on goal.
Freshman
Haley Larson gave UMSL an early 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, netting her first collegiate goal off a pass from senior
Kelly Goehring.
Kentucky Wesleyan then tied it up before halftime, scoring in the 37th minute.
The Tritons went back on top at the 76:22 mark when Harbaugh found sophomore
Libby Shriver for the score. But a Panthers goal by Leslie Chinn at the 83:22 mark forced overtime.
Harbaugh fired seven shots, landing four on goal, while Shriver took four shots, placing two on cue.
Junior
Kaitlyn Smugala played all 96:19 in goal, registering six saves.
UMSL returns to action Friday, hosting Rockhurst at 5 p.m.
