Women’s Soccer Adds Three Players

ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer coach Stephen Cavallo announced the addition of three players to the 2026 roster on Friday (Feb. 6). Joining the program are Hannah McFarlane, Maddy Kuhn and Hayley Smith.

"We're very pleased to welcome these three to our group this spring," Cavallo said. "Each of them brings a strong soccer background and qualities that align with how we want to play and who we want to be as a program. Having the opportunity to begin working with them this spring is important for their integration, and we're excited about the impact they can have at UMSL, both on and off the field."

McFarlane, a goalkeeper from Overland Park, Kan., transfers from Central Missouri where she appeared in three games facing three shots and making a save. She began her collegiate career at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. She appeared in seven matches including four starts in 2024. She posted 36 saves with a goals against average of 2.32.

"Hannah brings valuable experience from both the Division I and Division II levels and will add quality and competition within our goalkeeping union," Cavallo said. "She's a goalkeeper with strong positional awareness and confidence in one on one situations. Her understanding of the game and leadership will help bring maturity, belief, and consistency to the position."

Kuhn, a midfielder from O'Fallon, Mo., played the past two seasons at Lewis and Clark Community College. This past fall she scored five goals and added 13 assists for a total of 23 points for the Trailblazers. Three of her goals were game-winners. Kuhn appeared in 16 games with 15 starts as a freshman at Lewis and Clark tallying three assists.

"Maddy joins us with two years of high-level experience at Lewis & Clark, one of the top junior college programs in the region," Cavallo said. "She's a player who has consistently performed, earning Region Player of the Year accolades, and brings versatility across the back line and midfield. That flexibility, combined with her experience, makes her an excellent addition to our squad."

Smith, a defender from Bargersville, Ind., played at Saint Francis University (Pa.) this past fall where she appeared in 18 games with four starts logging 557 minutes of action. She played a season-high 69 minutes against Duquesne.

"Hayley will add real strength to the left side of the pitch for us," Cavallo said. "She's a technically secure player who fits well within our game model and will help us continue to move it forward. Having gained significant Division I experience this past fall, she brings a level of maturity and understanding that will be valuable to our group."

The Tritons finished the 2025 season with a record of 15-5-2, including 11-1-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, won a share of the GLVC regular season title, won the NCAA Midwest Regional and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament.
