Hannah Miller recorded a career-best 11 kills without committing an error to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team to a hard fought 3-2 victory over Ashland on Friday at the GLVC-GLIAC Crossover Tournament. UMSL won by set scores of 26-24, 24-26, 24-26, 25-23, 15-9.
Senior
Chelsea Burkle led the way for the Tritons with 20 kills and 13 digs as UMSL improves to 13-9 overall, while also avenging a 3-0 loss to Ashland earlier this season. The Eagles, who received a match-high 27 kills from Casey Clark, slip to 14-6.
The Tritons attacked at a .275 clip and collected 67 kills, while Ashland hit .225, registering 75 kills. Junior
Haley Brightwell added 12 kills and 15 digs, her first double-double of the season, while freshman
Jory Siebenmorgen also finished with 12 kills.
Sophomore
Lindsay Meyer and senior
Anna McNulty dished out 33 and 27 assists, respectively to direct the offense, while junior
Emily Bragaw finished with 25 digs.
UMSL owned a 10-4 blocking advantage and recorded two of those blocks in the decisive fifth set, while limiting Ashland to a .000 hitting mark.
UMSL returns to the court tomorrow with matches against Grand Valley State (10 a.m.) and Saginaw Valley State (4 p.m.)
