ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team had three players named All-Americans on Wednesday with
Caitlin Bishop,
Alayna Santel and
Skylar Weaver receiving the honors.
Bishop earns her third All-America selection in her career. She was an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team honoree in 2023 and an AVCA honorable mention selection last season. This year she landed on the First Team for both the AVCA and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) teams.
For Santel and Weaver this is the first All-America accolades of their careers. Santel was a First Team AVCA honoree while Weaver was an AVCA Third Team selection.
Bishop directed one of the top offenses in Division II this season and leads the country in assists per set with 12.36 and total assists with 1,397. As a team, UMSL leads Division II in kills per set (14.96) and assists per set (14.10), is sixth in team assists (1,621) and seventh in team kills (1,720). She was the GLVC Player of the Year and AVCA and D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year. Bishop won seven GLVC Setter of the Week accolades this season and has 22 in her career.
Santel finished the season ranked second in the GLVC in kills per set (4.12), total kills (474) and points per set (4.90). She ranks in the top 20 nationally in total kills and kills per set. Santel was an All-GLVC First Team selection and named to the AVCA and D2CCA All-Midwest Region First Teams. She was named the GLVC's Player of the Week on Nov. 17 and the AVCA National Player of the Week on Nov. 18.
Weaver led the GLVC in digs per set with 5.34 and total digs with 614. She is ranked in the top 20 nationally in both of those categories. Weaver, the GLVC's Libero of the Year, was also a First Team All-GLVC and First Team AVCA and D2CCA All-Midwest Region pick. She was named the GLVC's Defensive Player of the Week thrice this season.
The Tritons finished the season with a record of 26-5, won the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season title, won their first GLVC championship in program history and hosted the Midwest Regional for the second time in three seasons.
