LOUISVILLE, KY. – Bellarmine scored the game-winner less than five minutes into the second half en route to a 2-1 win over the visiting University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon.
The Knights took an early 1-0 lead just 5:44 into the contest before the Tritons knotted it up in 22
nd minute.
UMSL slips to 4-10-2 overall with the loss, including 2-10-2 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine improves its ledger to 10-5-2 and 9-4-1 in the league.
Sophomore
Hunter Wagoner scored the Tritons' goal at the 21:44 mark as her shot hit the top of the left corner. Sophomore
Sidney Allen picked up the assist after sending the ball into the box from the right side. It was Wagoner's team-leading fourth goal of the season, while Allen tallied her team-leading fifth assist of the year.
UMSL was limited to just four shots in the loss, but placed three on goal. Senior
Brittany Harbaugh had two shots, including one on goal.
Bellarmine fired 23 shots, landing nine on goal. Freshman
Amanda Schurzinske started her second straight game in goal and recorded seven saves.
UMSL will close out the 2013 season on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. game at Maryville.
