ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team was held to just .024 hitting Friday night in a 3-0 loss at No. 18 ranked Truman State. The host Bulldogs won 25-23, 26-24, 25-20.
With the loss, the Tritons fall to 8-6 overall, while slipping into second place in the GLVC West Division with a 4-2 mark. Truman State improves to 10-5 overall, including 4-1 in the league, moving atop the West Division standings with Rockhurst.
The first set was the tightest of the night, with 10 ties and four lead changes. A kill by junior
Haley Brightwell gave UMSL a 23-22 lead, but Truman State scored three straight, including two on a pair of Triton attack errors.
The second set appeared to be in UMSL's favor as the Tritons raced out to a 17-7 lead. Truman State answered back with four straight before a block from sophomore

Lexi Rogers ended the run, making it 20-14. The Bulldogs then scored eight of the next 10 points to tie it at 22-22. Despite a Truman State service error giving UMSL the set point at 24-23, the Bulldogs once again managed to find a way to get the win, scoring another three straight.
In the third set, Truman State built a 9-5 lead and never looked back.

Chelsea Burkle had a game-high 13 kills to lead the UMSL offense, while Brightwell finished with eight. Senior
Anna McNulty dished out 13 assists, while freshman
Lindsay Meyer recorded 11 assists and 20 digs.
Miller and Rogers had four blocks each as both teams recorded nine blocks. Truman State hit .143 and had 41 kills to UMSL's 30.
The Tritons are back on the court tomorrow in a 3 p.m. at Quincy.
