ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team recorded a 1-0 victory in the opening game of a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader with Quincy on Saturday, while the visiting Hawks won the second game, 2-1, in a 10-inning affair.
The Tritons move to 29-11 overall with the split, including 20-4 in the GLVC, while Quincy is now 16-26 on the season and 11-17 in the league.
UMSL was limited to just eight combined hits in the two games.
The Tritons close out their current homestand tomorrow, hosting Illinois-Springfield in a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
GAME 1 – UMSL 1, Quincy 0

Ayllson Luce in the fifth was the game's run as both teams had only three hits each.

Hannah Perryman recorded win number 17 on the season, tossing the complete game shutout, her seventh of the season. She struck out 10 and issued just one walk.

Haleigh Jenkins each added a single for the Tritons.
GAME 2 – Quincy 2, UMSL 1 (10 innings)
Quincy used two hits in the top of the 10
th inning to score the game-winning run.
The Hawks got the first run on the board in the fifth inning, taking advantage of two UMSL errors, while the Tritons got the run back in the bottom half of the frame with a squeeze play. Sophomore
Brianna Butler led off with an infield single, was advanced to second on a
Katie Wood groundout and got to third on a wild pitch. Luce then reached on a fielder's choice bunt allowing Butler to scamper home for the tie.
UMSL, which had just five hits, had opportunities in both the seventh and eighth innings to get the game-winning across the plate, but left two runners stranded in each inning, including runners at second and third in the eighth.
Sophomore
Brittni Chapman suffered the complete game loss, scattering seven hits. She also struck out two, while walking two.
